Al Statz, M&AMI, ASA
Al founded Exit Strategies in 2002 to help company owners exit right and retire well. He is a seasoned M&A advisor and valuation expert focused on manufacturing, automation, distribution, technology and service industries. Previously Al was president of IDC, a manufacturer of robotic devices for industrial automation. After merging with seven other companies and acquiring an east coast business, IDC was sold to multi-national Danaher Corp (NYSE: DHR). Earlier in his career Al integrated business acquisitions, led engineering, sales & marketing teams, developed and launched products, and built worldwide distribution channels. Al holds Merger & Acquisition Master Intermediary (M&AMI) and Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) credentials. He has an MBA from Golden Gate University and a BS in engineering from the University of Wisconsin. He serves on the board of directors and is past president of the California Association of Business Brokers. He is married and lives in Sonoma County. Bob Bates, CPA, CFE, CVA
Bob is a Certified Valuation Analyst, CPA and Certified Fraud Examiner. He has been a CFO/Controller for over 25 years in various industries in multiple countries. He has founded, owned, bought, sold, valued, raised money for and held senior management positions with public and private companies. Bob worked at KPMG where he had experience with acquisition due diligence and audit preparation. He is a member of the Forensic Expert Witness Association, Association for Corporate Growth and Accountant Lawyer Alliance. His B.S.-Management is from Bucknell University. Bob lives in the Bay Area and has traveled extensively throughout Asia and Latin America. He has competed nationally in track and field and has finished several triathlons.
Kevin has over 15 years of experience as an M&A advisor; specializing in manufacturing, distribution, service, technology and electronics companies. He brings a wealth of deal making and business experience to the table when introducing buyers and sellers and helping them complete successful transactions. Earlier in his career, Kevin held management positions in manufacturing & technology sales, marketing and business development with Siemens, Marubeni, Tyco Electronics, Itochu and Acumen. As an entrepreneur, he has started, acquired, managed and successfully sold several businesses. Kevin is a member of CABB and has a BS degree in marketing. Thomas Chang, CM&AP, CBI, CBB
Thomas is an M&A advisor and business broker with over 10 years of dealmaking experience. He brings 20+ years of business experience in construction, brand and franchise development, consulting, import/export and electronics wholesale distribution to his M&A engagements. He has also started, owned and operated several Northern California businesses during his entrepreneurial career. Thomas is a skilled negotiator and creative deal maker. He excels at guiding principals and deal teams through the transaction process. He is a tenacious problem solver and he loves new challenges. Thomas has a BS in Finance from San Francisco State University. He devours M&A training courses, has multiple M&A credentials, and is working toward a Certified Valuation Analyst accreditation. Joe Orlando, ASA
Joe is Exit Strategies’ VP of Business Valuation Services and is an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA). In the past 15 years Joe has valued hundreds of companies, representing nearly every industry. His focus areas include wineries, food and beverage, and technology. Before joining Exit Strategies Joe led the business valuation practice for Frank, Rimerman + Co. LLP, a growing Northern California public accounting firm. Joe’s professional background includes corporate finance and M&A, strategic planning for a public company and several entrepreneurial endeavors. He has served as President, Business Valuation Discipline Director and other leadership positions for the American Society of Appraisers’ Northern California chapter, and is a founding member of the Fair Value Forum. Joe has an MBA in Finance from Georgetown University and a BA in Economics from St. Lawrence University. He lives in Camas WA, just across the Columbia River from Portland OR, with his wife and twin boys.
